SAFEGUARDING
The Seed Community Church (a church plant under City Gates Church) is committed to the safeguarding of children and ensuring their wellbeing. We recognise that we all have a responsibility to prevent harm or abuse in all recognised forms. We affirm that the dignity of every person is not founded merely on legal rights or societal conventions, but on the understanding that each individual is created in the image of God. We will ensure all our policies and procedures reflect this.
We undertake to exercise proper care in the appointment and selection of those who will work with children.
We want all those who have contact with children to tell us if they observe any significant harm.
Commitments
We are committed to:

Following statutory guidelines; we will ensure all personnel work within agreed procedures.

Implementing the requirements of all relevant legislation including: Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, the Disability Discrimination Acts 1995 and 2005, and the Equality Act 2010.

Supporting, resourcing and training children and youth workers.

Keeping up to date with national and local developments relating to safeguarding.

Ensuring everyone agrees to abide by these recommendations and guidelines.

Supporting all who attend our church who are affected by abuse.
Agreements
We recognise that:

Statutory services have the lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse when concerns are expressed.

Where an allegation suggests a criminal offence may have been committed, the police should be contacted urgently.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
We will review this statement and our policy annually. Our policy is available on request.
